A wedding is what brought us to the country of Costa Rica. We spent the majority of our time on an all-inclusive resort. The resort and the wedding were both top-notch, but our day trip to La Fortuna is what has us yearning to go back to Costa Rica for more exploration.

We had heard of the magical Arenal volcano and waterfall near La Fortuna and decided a day trip is what we needed. We rented a car and drove the worst road conditions we'd ever experienced. The pot-holes were deep, civilization was scarce, restrooms non-existent, a physical road made of asphalt or concrete a distant memory, and yet something kept us driving forward. Four hours later - we arrived. We spent the day hiking to La Fortuna Waterfall. A natural 70' waterfall inside a dormant volcano. Breathtaking and magical.

1.) Hike to La Fortuna Waterfall

2.) Eat ceviche at Don Rufino. It's the best. We keep chasing that taste and have yet to find a match.

3.) Drive to Arenal Volcano.
